Watching the sunset

Haruka sat on a random bench on the rooftop of the Dormitory, humming to herself quietly. She was humming to the tune of Hallelujah by Bon Jovi. It was one of those songs that will get stuck in your head for countless hours if you like it.

Haruka eyes twinkles with a amusement as two yellow butterflies fly by, making her smile. The skies were continuing to grow dark, being a light orange now and the sun was slowly sinking into the ground. "What a lovely scene..."

Spencer slowly walks up behind Haruka and stretches; sitting down next to her and staring out at the falling sun.

Beautiful ain't it?

"It is..." She trails off. Her eyes slowly close and a smile forms on her lips. "Sometimes I wish I could lay up here all day. I could have no worries then, I could have no fears. It's a silly idea though, something I shouldn't even consider."

"Because I would prove themselves right..." She mutters with her eyes open now. "I would show them that I'm a good for nothing humanbeing, a mistake." Her words were full of saddness, like something was slowly killing her inside.

He shifts his weight and looks at her with a shocked expression; pressing his glasses further up his nose.

Now don't say that. You should know that isn't true.

"Haruka!" I called out, unaware of what she was talking about, I stepped on to the roof of the Dorms. "I thought you might be out here." Two whole years and she hadn't changed much. Either she would be looking at the scenery, or in the music room.

She sighs, "It is true, but just forget I said anything." Her head then slightly turns to the right, hoping to take a glance of this stranger. "Oh, it's you sensei."

"Haruka! I thought you might be out here."

"Hi Ace. I was just enjoying the scenery." Haruka says with a smile. Her voice was calm once again and her eyes became normal. "So, you want to speak to me?"

"Hey teach." I said, taking a seat on the ground next to them. "Nah, I just got tired of people crying about chips." I pulled out a diet coke and handed it to her.

Spencer pushes at a piece of concrete that looked as if it was chipped out of the ceiling.

Ah. I see.

Haruka giggles quietly, "I'm guessing that you met up with Mizu." She then accepts the diet coke, taking a small sip of it carefully. "Ah...Thank you." The only thing that would make this better was if she could play her flute, but she knew she couldn't right now. She had to be alone to do that.

"How'd you know?" I said glumly. "So, I take it that as third years we're no longer stuck with those boring training sessions, right?" I froze the other soda that I'd brought with me, and chucked it off the roof, then shot it with a lightning bolt.

"What a waste..." Haruka sighs, "Mizu's been the only person I could talk to over the past few days, considering that you were no where to be found." Being bored, like always, she decides to make a mini tornado with her index finger.

"Sorry about my absence. I went home to visit my parents..." I looked away glumly.

"Are you alright?" She asks, taking a seat on the ground next to him. "You should smile by the way, it looks better on you than a frown."

Spencer creates a web of lightning in his palm and watches the small fingers of electricity dance around in his hand.

"They... they're dead, Haruka." I leaned my head on to her shoulder, and froze the spot under my eyes to prevent myself from crying.

Haruka sighs, wrapping her arms around him loosely. "It's okay Ace, they're in a better place now.." She knew how hard it was to loose your parents, considering that she was abounded at age of 10, so it was hard to see her friend go through something this bad as well. "You can cry if you want, no one will judge you."

Not wanting to butt into their conversation, he stands up and goes to sit on the air conditioner tens of feet away from them.

"I don't wanna cry..." I froze my tearducts more, a teardrop shaped chunk of Ice appearing under either eye. "It wont bring 'em back anyways."

"But it will help you move on." She whispers, "You don't have to hide your tears, it's okay to cry."

"I can't though..." I crossed my arms.
